Just did a hard reset and installed only todaywarrior to check current draw.
Everything seems normal, odyssey isn't causing any power spikes.
I conclude that my problem must have been a fluke with my axim. Something weird probably happened during my update that made my wireless mess up.
Don't let my complaints stop you from updating your axim - I think it was just a fluke.
