Well.. I'm a bit biased towards GSPlayer myself and created a number of skins for it too.. It is extremely lightweight (single program), runs great out of BIS and supports native VGA. Oh.. and I can easily listen to shoutcast streams with it!
I've tried almost all the players out there (except 40iplay.. a bit too complicated website/support and install setup for me.. and $$$), and keep coming back to gsplayer.
Not sure why you are having issues with the settings... perhaps a de and re install might help? Good luck...
