I also have a 256MB SanDisk SD card. I formatted it to FAT32 with 512byte sectors. I had a My Documents folder setup with nothing in it. I have lost all my data on the card six times. I just copied a folder from my CF card to the SD card. The My Documents folder was gone (along with the folder that I copied) and there were about 30 unnamed folders showing on the card. Storage Tools is unable to repair this card. The only thing that seems to work at this point is reformatting the card. And yes, this is one of the Taiwan cards, AR0302LR.
I found a 256MB Lexar card to replace it. The package said that it was made in Japan. The card said it was made it Taiwan, AR0301LR, and it was slower and crashed sooner than the SanDisk labeled SD card!
