Yeah, I don't like the iTunes thing. $1.00/song for MP3 FORMAT is way too steep. Like you said, this equals out to what it costs on a CD. However, it should be cheaper. With these song downloads, they don't have CD Production costs, distribution costs, etc. I know they have money invested in servers and what not, but still cheaper than a hard-copy production of the songs. Also, although MP3 format is very popular and usually sounds very good.....what bit rate are they offering these downloads at? If it is only like 128 or 192 then count me out for sure. They need to offer everything for $1.00 in 320 bitrate. I think this will be a good service to the average consumer, but they will never get an audiophile to download songs for $1.00 unless they start to offer them in a lossless format. MP3 is good for portable stereos and computers, but stick it on an OUTSTANDING set of speakers and you can even tell a difference between a CD and a 320 bitrate MP3. But again, this is probably aimed more towards the average consumer, so more power to Apple. But count me out. :)
