Well, there is a "lossless" (VERY CLOSE) format known as SHN (aka Shorten) format. Many of the Live concert traders (Legal) are using this format to go straight from MD or DAT to a "lossless" file. I know it's not 100% lossless, but much much closer than any mpeg format.

Is MP4 any better quality than MP3, or just more secure? And for the record, I don't use Kazaa or any other P2P progs for music (other than to throw on Axim). :) I still prefer to purchase CDs to get the best sound out of my speakers. However, the SHN-based Live recordings that I have sound GREAT on my speakers as well.

I know that it is not likely to see a company use a format such as this for distribution because of file size and/or security issues. I was just stating that I don't think the audiophile market (which as grown to be VERY large) will ever use anything like this for much of their music. Again, it's a good idea for the regular consumer market, and I'm sure it will skyrocket.
