It's just a lot faster and more expensive.
To start, compare a X600 to a X850.
Oh, and I assume that the workstation video card you're talking about is still for a x86 computer. Obviously, one designed for a SPARC will require a different BIOS at the very least. Those are extremely rare for home computers, though. (I just happen to have an old 500MHz UltraSPARC machine just lying around...)
