I think it's a great package. I purchased the same 3 items separately and paid about $30 more. I am pleased with the operation of each component.
The
GlobalStat BT-388 GPS Receiver is idiot-proof and can be tossed into a pocket or knapsack and used anywhere - on foot and in the car - and can be trusted to last 14 to 15 hours on a charge.
The
iGuidance 2.1.1 GPS software is reasonably intuitive and complete with most of the same features as the others - but the appearance of the screenloads and the manner of operation are such personal matters that there are big cheering groups (and jeering groups) for almost all of the market-leading packages out there. Here is a link to a (just published) review iG 2.1.1:

(It's a shame that not all of those vendors provide 30 day free trial versions of their software so that we that we could "test drive" them all to see which provides the "best fit" for each of us - and our differing needs and priority of desired features. But some do - so do as much "test driving" as time and oportunity will permit. You will learn a lot with each "test drive" and and you will sharpen your purchasing criteria.)
Lastly, the
Arkon Vent Mount works well with my car, but recently I found out it didn't work in the last car I rented. You may want to consider opting for the BuyGPSnow combo's optional Arkon Windshield & Console PDA Mount ($10 extra) - see:
www.buygpsnow.com/item.aspx?itemid=377. Or do what I plan to do - spend an additional $12.95 the "Additional Windshield Pedestal (14" or 8") for the Arkon Vent Mount (the 8" will probably be more stable) - see:
www.buygpsnow.com/item.aspx?itemid=390. The "Add-on" pedestal will give me greater flexibility for finding mounting solutions in other cars. However, if the Arkon Vent Mount does not work out for you, you may (later) opt to purchase the
Seido G2500 Car Kit for $79.95 - see:
http://tinyurl.com/brltk. Arguably, it is the best mount out there (the general consensus of several threads of discussion elsewhere on these forums - do a search for "Seido G2500" - the most recent can be seen at:
http://tinyurl.com/9x9ga), but if the cheaper solutions work - so what?
