To limit the number of items displayed you must shorten the width of the Start Menu itself. The way to accomplish this is by changing the names of the items that you are displaying on the start menu. This is not very functional because
Today, Programs, Settings, Find and
Help must always be shown on the menu. These items will therefore hinder your success at limiting the number of recent programs shown. Your best bet may be a Start Menu replacement, such as that available in Wisbar Advanced.
