Battery Pack 2003 also has an icon for shutdown AND soft-reset. Much better than the stylus like you mention. I only use the stylus to reset if it is locked up. I soft-reset sometimes if it seems to drag a little, just to clear the insides out.

Drawback is that Battery Pack 2003 isn't free but I use it in the program launcher. I don't even use the battery/memory monitor at all. I use Sprite BackUp Plus 2 for that. It also tells me the last date of backup and when the next Bu is scheduled. I highly reccomend it. It can BU without any intervention from the user. I have it once a week to do so int he cradle. Its nice. :)
