A PDA manufacture writes drivers for the Mobile OS, they send them to MSFT, and thru something like WindowsUpdate.com they get pushed to your device. Doing it this way prevents WM5 rom images being hacked and pirated on unpaid devices. Remember the big Dell fiasco with people hacking the PPC03 os rom and installing it on their dell PPC02 os?
I am sure the WM 2005 MSFT gave to their Mobility MVPs runs in a emulator.

I don't think that is correct since WM5 CD came with my x50v for free. i have not touched yet untill I'm confident my apps will work on it or untill all my apps have a patch or something. I believe you can buy the cd from Dell. I do not know if it requires an Axim or what, but it should work on all axims or at least any xscale platform.

The only reason I still have my home PC is to sync my PDA. Otherwise what good is it for? I give it 10 years at most and the home PC will be replaced with the Pocket PC.
