I tried soft reboot and a hard reboot, heck I even started all over and only loaded the keyboard and the same.....
Anybody else have this problem, or do I have a dud?

Make sure you have the newest Dell driver installed. Check their website.
However, I have had problems with mine twice, due to adding new software. Resets fixed them.
