I don't think they do want to make any money out of us. But unless they do defend (and are seen to be defending) their copyright then a competitor could use this later on as a reason why their copyright is no longer valid.

The ideal solution would be for the IP owners to grant a special free license (or very discounted license) to TCPMP users, but I don't think they will see any reason to do this.
