I wouldn't worry too much about the USB thing. I've been syncing since feb on 6 different pcs and haven't had a problem. It's probably good practice to use the AC adaptor with the cradle.
The first sync has to be done via the cradel and then you can use a BT/Wifi sync.
(the cradle will also be needed for rom updates and the WM5 update)
