well...
To begin with, the Everquest demo came off as a very simplified, nice looking, poorly written game. Obviously the full retail version might be better, but overall it seemed a little bit lowest-common-denominator... on purpose. The demo certainly did not create any desire in me to buy any of the episodes. Plus I've never played the PC version, and therefore have no connection to the material.
But since I'm really into the Elder Scrolls, it stands to reason that I'd prefer to play games from the series where I'm familiar with all the story elements. Not to mention that the ES RPGs were *never* created for sort of mass-market consumption, but rather were always intended to be complex. This is all guesswork, of course, but I'd like to think that this approach would translate to an ES portable game too, although it could just as well end up being more of an ES:Adventures type of game.
I have seen enough great PPC games to think that the platform could definitely support a mature, complex RPG. And although graphics are far down the list as far as importance to me, you could still get some really nice 2D art even if the game was still sprite based.
