Each network adaptor can connect to one network at one time. So with two network adaptors your can connect to two networks.

An example is a PC with ICS running. You can have one network adaptor talking to the router and a second network adaptor talking to other devices. You need to ensure that different IP address ranges are used on each side.

The PPC has one network adaptor and I don't think you'd have much success with installing an additional one. So it can only connect to one at a time.
