I have found a solution short of returning my Axim back to Dell.

My problem is that I have Eudora installed. Eudora has it's own MAPI server if you are so inclined to use it. If you configure within Eudora to ALWAYS USE EUDORA'S MAPI then it replaces your MAPI32.DLL with a Eudora-specific MAPI32.DLL. This DLL is incompatible with the synchronization of Outlook with ActiveSync.

Here are your options.

1) Never use the Eudora MAPI.
2) Tell Eudora (like I did) to only use the Eudora MAPI when Eudora is running. When this is the case, you need to shut down Eudora prior to synching with ActiveSync.
3) Just only use Outlook as your client. Ewwwwwwwww NOT!

I ended up reinstalling my Office 2003 suite and slowly was able to find this culprit. My guess is taht if you have another e-mail client besides Outlook, be careful to see if it is running its own MAPI server. Always close it prior to synching. It took me weeks of searching and begging to find this out.

I hope this helps someone else in my shoes. Thanks for everyone's help here. It's been invaluable.
