Yeah, the only way I can think of to do it would end up costing about the same amount.

There are plenty of these tri-tipped cables out there but, like I said, they're made for DV, therefore the other end of the cable is three RCA males. So you'd have to get adapters for each of them.

The adapters are readily available, but it stops being so cost effective at that point because you're paying a couple bucks for each adapter plus a few bucks for the original cable. Suddenly you're up at the $10 mark again. The only upside would be that the cables for camcorders are much longer so you'd have a longer reach (if that mattered at all)

These cables will eventually become mainstream and only cost a couple bucks because, unlike something like the x50v sync connector, the 3.5mm plug and jack is a standard item. So, I guess, until that point, paying $10 is what you've got to do.
