Have you tried Morphgear  ? We allow users to swith their display anyway they like on the fly(left handed portrait users, right handed portrait user, portrait,...upside down).
We are currently looking into implementing virtual butoin for landscape mode... most likely will be implemented in the future.
Make sure you follow the steps in installing Morphgear though... many people get confused when trying to install it.
P.s. Our commercial/Marat Module includes 4 emu's in one, the NES module is inside this...
