Are you actually streaming the content or just trying to open it over the network? If you're just trying to open it over the network then that's probably your problem. There is NO WAY that your Axim is maxing out either an 802.11b or 802.11g network. So it's unlikely that just throwing another router at it will fix the problem. It's not impossible, I don't have a good enough understanding of how you have things setup, but it's not the right approach to solving the problem.
Assuming that you are streaming it, have you change the bit rates to see if there is a way to optimize that way? Assuming that you're not streaming it, have you though about streaming it? Slim Server is fantastic for streaming audio and Windows Media Encoder is not bad for streaming video. Both are free.
