There is NO WAY that your Axim is maxing out either an 802.11b or 802.11g network. So it's unlikely that just throwing another router at it will fix the problem. It's not impossible, I don't have a good enough understanding of how you have things setup, but it's not the right approach to solving the problem.
Assuming that you are streaming it, have you change the bit rates to see if there is a way to optimize that way? Assuming that you're not streaming it, have you though about streaming it? Slim Server is fantastic for streaming audio and Windows Media Encoder is not bad for streaming video. Both are free.

You are right howard, I will look into the streaming options that let me control the rates. I was just trying to stream it over the network, it seems to work well enough with mp3s and even some video files, but it was cutting out, so I assumed it was my router being dumb. I will have to find some tutorials, I have played with the windows encoder before, but it was giveing me troubles, because I dont' know how to use it.
