Add or Remove viewable fields in Contacts

Upon upgrading from a Palm-based PDA to a PocketPC, I had the fun experience of having to manually import ALL of my contacts from Palm Desktop to Outlook.

Now, when I imported my contacts, I set it up so that a friend's primary phone number shows up in Outlook under the header "Primary"

The problem I'm faced with is that the Contacts list on my PPC doesn't show this "Primary" field, nor does there appear to be a way to add or remove fields to the list of ones shown when I select a record.

How can I get the "Primary" field to show up on my PPC as well?

And while we're on the topic, I'd like to bring up PIMs. I've searched this forum for alternatives to Outlook, but I haven't really seen one that I would pay for.

So I though, I know how to design programs with VB, would it be hard to create my own? So I ask any fellow VB programmers out there, is it possible to design my own PIM from scratch? If it is possible, I'd be willing to make my own if only to get the functionality out of my PPC as I did out of my Palm Pilot.

This "bad experience" with using the contacts list has made me consider switching back to a Palm Pilot
