Couldn’t Wait on WM2005. ERROR: Outlook2003 Won't Sync w/o Old Outlook 2002 CD!

I didn’t want to wait for WM2005 to install Outlook 2003, now ActiveSync cannot log on to Microsoft Outlook without first inserting the old Outlook 2002 CD. It needs to grab a link from the CD. That just takes a few seconds. Then, you're good-to-go until the next time you open Outlook. Then, it prompts for the old CD again.

I’m using ActiveSync 3.8; WinXP; Dell Axim X50v.

I upgraded to Outlook 2003 (now called Microsoft Office Outlook 2003). I didn’t want to wait for the WM2005 upgrade later this year. Because many thought the actual program wouldn’t be included in the upgrade, I purchased an OEM version of Outlook 2003 for $20.

Wow, what a fantastic program! Email that took 5+ seconds to open now displays instantaneously. What a joy it is to zip through the email.
Outlook 2002 was so slow. I dreaded messing with it. I did most of my email sorting with the Axim, using the Think Outside BT Keyboard. Email opens quickly on the X50v. If I had known how great the 2003 version of Outlook was, I'd have gotten it earlier.

Outlook 2003 works great, but I am prompted to insert the Outlook 2002 source disk, because of the following error message:
ActiveSync cannot log on to Microsoft Outlook. Make sure Microsoft Outlook is installed and functioning correctly. You may need to restart your computer. You could have a conflict due to two folders on this computer that are named: C:\ Program Files\ Microsoft & C:\ Program Files\ Microsoft Office.
If so, rename the …Microsoft folder so it doesn’t contain the word “Microsoft.” If this folder contains subfolders, you may need to reinstall programs in the renamed folder.
I have the following folders in C:\Program Files\ Microsoft...

ActiveSync
Encarta
Frontpage
Games
Money
Office
PictureIt!
Streets & Tips
Works
Works Suite 2002
Microsoft.net

Renaming 10 folders is not an option.

What do I change so I won't have to insert the Outlook 2002 CD every time ActiveSync tries to log on to Outlook 2003?

I will gladly keep the Outlook 2002 CD handy while waiting on the fix that will arrive with the WM2005 upgrade - - if I have to.

Any ideas on a fix?

Many thanks.
