Activesync definitely backs up everything in your Main Memory. Of course make sure to check "Full Backup" in the Backup menu. Usually you don't need to backup your Built-in Storage but you can do that from the File Explorer in Activesync as well. A hard reset doesn't delete your Built-in Storage. Dell WLAN Utility is already in the main memory so even if you hard reset, it will come back again. No need to re-install. For additional software you have your Dell Software CD. I'm sure the WM 5.0 will backup your old configuration first, before installing the new OS like Tancerman said.
