Yes there is but the selection of software is quite limited compared to what is available for Windows & Linux.
These guides will get you started with DVD movie conversion, I would recommend you try Handbrake first as it is designed to be easy to use. MacTheRipper + ffmpegX is a more powerful combination but is probably not necessary until you know what you're doing.
I do not recommend syncing to transfer movies as it will give quite slow transfer speed, a memory card reader is much faster and does not require you to purchase any additional sync software. If you were thinking of trying to watch movies on your Axim without a memory card then forget it, the builtin storage area is too small for even the shortest films.
