I use Skype on my Axim x50v and find it fantastic, no noticeable delay even when I use it on my super cheap 512 broadband.
I tend to use headphones and turn auto gain off on the mic but i'm very happy with it and SkypeOut is pretty good value!
I even got it to work over GPRS, damn if only it didn't cost a fortune! 222kb for a 30sec call, so my 10MB inclusive allowance would be used up in 20mins~£8
Oh I hate mobile phone networks! Bring on Blanket WIMAX coverage!

To sum it up, don't bother with Skype for PPC unless you don't own a cellphone or something. Sound quality is actually worse then those 1cent per minute international call calling card. Also there was about 1.5 second delay.
It was kind of interesting to use Axim to make phone call (hold it upside down and use it like a phone so that you can listen from the speaker and talk into the microphone) for first minute or so but got tired of it very quickly due to sound quality and the delay I mentioned earlier. Skype for PC is pretty good but NOT for PPC.
