Thx Gigi, I just tried that but it didn't work for me. It cleared my date/time settings (or so it told me), but didn't get me to the alignment screen. After that I held my breath and did a real hard reset. That DID do the trick (phew, now no time without my Ax waiting for Dell to repair/replace it under warranty), but now I'm in the unenviable position of rebuilding all of my installed programs, etc after a year and a half of customizing. I've never done a hard reset, so _hopefully_ everything will be rebuilt after I restore from my complete backup. I've heard stories about backups not working, though, so I've got my fingers crossed.
I've reset my regional setting because I've heard that that can cause a backup to not restore. I'll find out later today (no time now) if things restore smoothly. :)
