I am looking for the same thing actually, and I think I will go for one of the Canon Digital Elph cameras. I've tried it out before and the picture quality is quite good.....and it is really small to boot.

The link is that, if the two devices use the same kind of memory card, it will be very easy to just move the card to the Axim and load the pictures without having to go through the PC.
