I've been using Skype a lot from my laptop and also (occasionally) from the Axim X30. It's less than 2 Euro-cents for a minute's talk time to home phone from Texas to home in Scotland (or from anywhere else I end up).
The money is made when making calls to phones and also if you want a number to be called on or want an answering service.
If I installed it on my home PC and called it from the US it'd be free, but I don't mind paying 2 Euro-cents per minute especially when my mobile calls used to cost me 90 British Pence per minute.

All-in-all, excellent application and I've had no problems with it from laptop or Axim so far :-):approve:
