No you are not the only person in the universe with this problem. I just purchased Resco Audio 3.21 and when I started recording for a while it timed out with the same error you are getting. I am recording to an empty 1GB compact flash card. My x51v is also new so there is plenty of free space.

On the bright side, Resco does allow me to record long enough to say "this is annoying."
