However, I'm in two minds now about even buying the upgrade. Everything runs so smoothly on my Axim at the moment - I can do everything I wanted and all the software is compatible. Maybe buy it, but don't install till next year, when all the apps have been upgraded to be compatible...?  What concerns me is that I may not be able to go 'back' to WM2003 if the WM5 upgrade causes problems with apps I use everyday.

I agree - my AXim 50v is currently in a state of Nirvana. The only thing I would like is persistent storage so I could bleed my Axim till its dry.
Having said that, I'm sure WM5 issues will be ironed out, but maybe there needs to be a fundamental hardware update as well. i.e. machines with bigger RAM.
