Thanks for all the replies.

I figured out how to make it work, but I doubt this was a "real" solution -- I just lucked out. All that I did was move the files to the main memory and launched Reader. It worked and all files were recognized. Since I don't have enough main memory to leave them there, I then moved them BACK to the SD card in the same location they were originally. Now when I launch Reader it finds the files and everything works fine. Since this doesn't make much sense it was clearly a fluke. In any event, it's working now so I guess I don't really care WHY it's working -- only that it's working.
