In WM2003, doing a hard reset would not clear out your BIS (only your main memory programs and PIM data, etc).
This is not the case in WM5, since there is no more BIS as it existed in WM2003. Doing a hard reset will erase everything on the device.
This may sound bad, but on the positive side, Dell's built-in backup/restore utility will also backup/restore the entire device in WM5 (in WM2003 it ignored the BIS). So just be sure to back up everything you want to save before doing hard resets.
