The X51 has a capacitor instead of the backup battery. I'm not sure if that avoids the soft reset or not with a battery change (I only have one battery for my X51).
I didn’t mean to imply that psShutXP would do the ‘true power off.’ It doesn’t do that on the X51, either. It just puts it into the ‘classic’ PPC off mode which is what I thought you were looking for in your post (as opposed to what pkenyon was referring to in the first post).
