Open ActiveSync on your PC and go to Options , remove the check in front of Contact. Syncing won't happen anymore.

Thanks for the info.......I suppose I can type it on the PC, synch it to the Axim, disconnect the AXIM, delete it from the PC, reset activesynch to that it won't synch the contacts (as you suggested). And later, if I want to add something using the convenience of typing it into the computer, I can do that, then, well, if I try to synch the new contact over to the Axim, it might erase all the other ones on the Axim......but I could, first, synch everything from the Axim back to the desktop, then type in the new contacts, then synch it all back to the Axim, disconnect the Axim, then delete it from the desktop.
I know this sounds CRAZY--but it would be easier to actually do than to describe in this message.........and in any case, probably much faster and easier than tapping each letter of the contact into the Axim!
Just as long as I don't get sloppy and synch an empty outlook into the Axim and lose everything! WHEW! Maybe it is nuts, but it might work that way....
