The default setting for Activesync when you're mobile (not connected to your PC) is to try to sync every 5 mins. This is what I found was causing the battery drain.
You need to go into the scheduling options on your PC and change it to manually. If the schedule option is greyed out in Activesync here is what to do:
- set up a dummy server (put in any number as a dummy address
- this will give you access to the schedule option
- change the sync settings to manual
- run a sync
- then you can delete the dummy server
- do another sync and now Activesync won't try to connect every 5 mins.
There is still an issue of Activesync turning the unit on while in the cradle - the only workaround right now is to disable to LAN connection to the device.
Hope this helps

CuriousG: Thanks, it has helped at least one person to turn off the blasted syncing every 10 minutes (that's what mine was set at). As for the battery drain, only time will tell. I was hoping that my upgrade would uneventful, as I started with a hard reset before attempting the upgrade. There seemed to be a higher level of success from reading the forums; not so, I guess. Anyway, at this point I'm going to try and stick it out until an update comes out.

Thanks again.
