Outlook sucks.
There. It had to be said and acknowledged.
For all its pretention as a 'corporate' PIM, there are glaring failures and omissions (such as the one you noted) that simply make one wonder 'What were they thinking?'
The considerably 'liter' and user-intuitive Palm Desktop and PIM is far more effective and flexible in the info it allows a user to store and view - and if there is one thing I regret about moving to PPC it is certainly not Dell or even the dodgy OS upgrades, it is the loss of Palm Desktop....
You can, as you know, within Outlook (and in full-size Contacts window) choose from the drop-down arrows next to the phone number fields the name of each field - but then it is not necessarily visible within the Contacts list, depending on which view you use or which columns you've set as visible. And the drop-down (as you've discovered) only allows for one Mobile number, so I guess using Other is the only real option for multiples of that.
Then having done that, on your PDA you will want to set which number is the default view in the phone list. Only one allowed.
Others may come to the defense of Outlook (poor deluded wretches that they are) and/or suggest 3rd Party programs for the PDA - but not, alas, for the Desktop - but there is little one can do with Outlook that is actually useful.
