X50/51 has TTL serial port in the bottom connector.

If you were in electronics as long as I've been (>30 years) you would learn that you should always offload interfaces to hardware specifically designed for that purpose. In the case of my Axim, should something happen to the equipment I'm connected to, I would rather have a replacable plug-in interface damaged than my Axim. Besides, there is still some question on the accuracy of the "AximBob" pinout diagram. I just found that Pin 7 is a switched 3v power output, not an input as shown. Others still are not sure if the DTR, DSR, CTS & RTS pins are correct.
If you have verified the correct X50 serial interface pinouts 100%, maybe you'd like to confirm it here in the forum once and for all.
There are also many experimenters here who like to push the limits of their equipment. Now that I hace identified an inexpensive serial CF card that only needs a MAX3232 for true RS232, others can make use of it.
Case in point: Most USB puck type GPS receivers are actually 3V serial devices that can be interfaced to this CF card directly after removing the internal serial to USB bridge chip. I've already done this.
