My X50v has had the same, gradually worsening glitchyness of the power connector, tonight it will not charge at all, it is at 2% power and I am so frustrated that I want to throw it in the face of Dell's CEO and watch him bleed! What the #$%@ is their problem designing such a lame connector? Make it sturdy! Argh!!!!!!!!! What do we do?

Actually, it's two different connection approaches. The X5 has a direct plug for external power, the X50 series uses the bottom port. Two entirely different designs. If you are under warranty, call Dell for a replacement. If not, you may be able to open the case and see if a connection is broken or intermittent and repair it (carefully) with a soldering iron.
