I got connected to my Garmin III + and my Axim.

I don't have my meter with my so I am not sure of the exact pin swapping. I got this on the internet of a pinout/cross of a null modem cable DB9-DB9.

1 and 6 to 4
2 to 3
3 to 2
4 to 1 and 6
5 to 5
7 to 8
8 to 7

Ok, I have my Dell serial cable connected to the Axim and it is a DB9 female end. I then connected my null modem cable adapter. This is a simple DB9 male to DB9 female only a half inch thick where the cross and pin swaps occur.I was going to purchase a 6ft cable but decided against it for the hassle of lengthy cabling. I then have my Garmin III + connected to the Garmin cable ending with a DB9 female. I have that connected to a gender bender (DB9 male to DB9 male) which is the same exact size as the null modem adapter. I could have used a male to male null modem adapter but they were out and I had to buy the two pieces for adaption. I then connect the 2 cables with adapters together and it gets streams from the GPS. I have to set the Garmin to hddd'mm.mm' since the application I am using wants that format. Also my application needed the interface format in NMEA at 4800 baud. It works fantastic!

My attempts of linear text representation:

Axim-Cable-Null Modem Adapter-Gender Bender-Cable-Garmin GPS

The null modem adapter cost $2.50 and the gender bender cost $1.49.

This here is EXACTLY what mine looks like:

The gender changer looks exactly the same except it says gender changer on the colored band around the unit.

A big WHOOOOOP ! B)
