From what I've been told, it appears that certain SD card controllers do not stick to the SD Card Association's secure-standard.
Its something to do with the speed the card can reply to the Axim when it's first inserted - it seems that the Axim believes the slower SD cards are MMC cards. This means the Axim ignores the secure part of the SD card - when it tries to write over the area on the SD card that is set aside for these secure attributes; this knackers the FAT and then all hell breaks loose. Only happens during heavy write/update operations...
Some (newer) Axim's have more problems than others... Maybe they're more sensitive to slower cards?
