Is this while restoring from the PC client? Do you see an "An error has occured communicating with the device" message on the PC? If so, I've ignored this message(I think its from Active sync, not sprite) and it worked. Once, I clicked it, and the restore did fail.

I've restored from the PC and the PPC successfully a few times, after hard resets.
