Did you completely uninstall the old version (3.8)? Did you remove any reference to AS from the registry?
After doing the above, you can install the new version and it should communicate...
How old is your device? Do you have an Express Service Code?

Yes, I uninstalled 3.8 and installed 4.1. The device the communicate with the device just fine, it's some software bug that prevent the upgrade uitility from procceeding.
I already contacted Dell. After talking with them for a long time, they just tell me that they hope the update in the future will fix the problem.
