Ken S is correct - the application you downloaded from Adobe is NOT the installer for WM or PocketPC - it's an installer which drops an Adobe folder in your ActiveSync directory, and in that folder is the CAB file that ActiveSync will try to install the next time you sync the device.
Just get the CAB file out of that directory and send it to your Dell - run that and install away.

I installed Acrobat Reader yesterday evening.
Two problems though :
1- The icons (and other forms of images) on my Axim x51v corrupt after a while. Only a soft reset will get them back. This seems to be directly related to Acrobat Reader v2 being installed.
2- The text in Acrobat Reader is ugly, blocky (I hope the VGA tweak will do something for that, but I'll start a separate thread for that subject)
