This is a problem with WM5 after you have performed a restor. The only solution I have found is to delete the email account and then add it back in as a new account. If that does not solve the problem then it was back to a hard reset.
I have had the problem many times after a restore from a backup using the Dell supplier backup software in WM5. Deleteing the account and starting over usually works.
