Well i hope it does help someone, it really is nice to have the ability to do a sync while away and get all the emails. Of course the devil is in the details and although you read that a certain port has to be open for the connection to work you sometimes forget to consider that on remote connections you are working with 2 networks and a lot of networks have firewalls and filtering of some type.

Anyways i did a remote sync with just activesync and pockethosts to redirect to my home IP and I did one with VPN as both are described in IkeHikers guide. As i described in the previous post to have a remote sync you need the port 990 open on both sides, which if you take a standard Linksys wireless router it will normally be blocking that port, while i believe it does allow for VPN bypass (pptp?)by default. So for those wanting to do remote sync it is good to be able to do both but the vpn way will probably be more useful if you find yourself connected to some SSID called linksys.

Best of luck
