I admit I use the term 'beta' very loosely. I meant that there are quite a few hiccups and tweaks needed to get it to do what you want. Not something you expect from a mature OS.

2. I have used both WM5 and WM2003SE extensively at this point. I still do not see any functional or interface improvements in WM5. In fact, there are several areas in which the WM2003SE interface avoids nasty trips through menus. The memory management on WM5 would be valuable except that using good backup software with WM2003SE avoids data loss. Only touted feature of WM5 that seemed useful to me was longer battery life, but I never really saw that benefit.
So what are the 'lot of improvements' you have seen in WM5?

The main improvement of WM5 is indeed the memory management, plus there are a lot of 'under the hood' improvements. I'm no expert but I think that you could consider the PocketPC2003 -> WM5 upgrade in the same league as windows 98 -> XP. At first there were very few obvious improvements, however the design philosophy behind XP it was quite a bit better. Also of course you have newer versions of things like outlook, msn, transcriber etc which should perform better.
