I can't get it working with a new Belkin F8T012 using Widcom drivers, however my cheap nasty BlueMonkey adaptor using default XP drivers works perfectly.

I posted this in another thread and hopefully it will help here. I had the same problem with my Belkin and I assume others are having the same problem with other adaptors.
Somewhere down the line, Microsoft added something to their updates for XP that screwed up BT. The telltale sign is to look at device manager and you'll see that you have 2 BT devices. One will be your actual device and the other will be the Microsoft BT Ennumerator (sp).
If that's the case, download (or get your original install disk)the drivers for your adaptor. Then choose your adaptor and update the drivers. THIS IS IMPORTANT - You will need to tell Windows that you want to manually do the update. If you have it search or even point to where your drivers are it will tell you that you already have the latest drivers installed. Go back and force it to use the drivers from your manufacturer.
After that follow the other instructions for pairing and you should now see the Activesync service available.
