Same experience with me. When using PHM Betaplayer and other applications which can show processor speed, show the speed i configured with PHM. With XCPUscalar, nothing changes. No performance, no indication in apps, no nothing. Pure waste of money!
I know it's a long thread but it's full of proof that XCPUscalar fakes.
This is what Immiersoft (XCPUScalar makers) says about the fake overclock:
"Because of the builtin speed stepping functionality that is built into these family of PDA's when XCPUScalar is set to 520MHz, the builtin speed utility usually resets it back to 416MHz when its on battery power. Unfortunately there is no interface to disable this that the manufacturer provides. So to get true 520MHz overclocking for these family of PDA's with XCPUScalar please
attach AC power to your PDA and you will get true 520MHZ overclocking."
I'm repeating myself. It's pure junk and the developers 'agree'.
