Now I understand; it's overclocking that supposedly doesn't work on battery (with XCPUScaler). It does seem to properly down-clock based on the selected load settings, which is mostly what I was looking for to reduce battery drain. I haven't really tried pushing it much over 624MHz and doubt the difference between 624MHz and 663MHz (my max setting) would be noticeable. I also haven't experienced the severe problems Jay is reporting. May be an interaction with other utilities.
You've really got my attention, though, so I've just gotten a hold of Spb Benchmark and I'm going to check it out. The benchmarks at the link you provided were from a different device and an older version of XCPUScaler. For now, Immier will be innocent until proven guilty, but if he's faking the overclock display on battery, I'm really going to be ticked off and will definitely seek a refund. I really don't care so much about overclocking, but I hate being lied to. Thanks for the info.
