I'm so glad I found this thread! I've had my 5 for a couple of years now with only minor problems. Then came this screen deal. Taps would work intermittenly. Buttons were good but the screen really puzzled me. Thought I was going to send off for a new $100 screen.....Then I read your suggestion and the looked at the links.

Opened up the back and being "vewy, vewy, careful" gently cleaned the contact area as decribed in your post...That did it! Works like a champ! :approve:
